With nearly four decades of combined experience between them, Jared and Alishia Fite didn’t just open a salon — they built the one they always wished existed.
The industry had split into two extremes. Big salons that moved fast, ran loud, and treated clients like numbers. And solo suites that felt isolated — closed off from the energy and collaboration that makes great work happen.
Neither felt right.
Rooted was born from a simple belief: people deserve to feel at home in the chair. Not rushed. Not overlooked. Not lost in the noise. A place where the conversation matters as much as the cut. Where every detail is intentional and every client is known by name.
We found our space — intimate enough to feel personal, open enough to feel alive. No chaos, no isolation. Just expert care in a setting designed around you.

Common questions
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Rooted is by appointment only. We design our schedule around giving every client undivided attention and time — which means we don't take walk-ins. Booking ahead also gives your stylist a chance to plan for any color or extension work in advance.
How far in advance should I book?
Same week is often possible, especially for cuts, blowouts, and treatments. For color services or weekend availability, we recommend booking one to two weeks out. We'd rather you book a little ahead than not at all — reach out anytime and we'll make it work.
How long is the wait for a color correction appointment?
Same as our regular booking — usually within one to two weeks. Color correction is precision work that requires careful planning, but we don't want lead time to be a barrier. The sooner you reach out, the sooner we can get you on the schedule.
How does the hand-tied extension process work?
Extensions start with a consultation where we color-match, assess your natural density, and design a placement plan around your lifestyle. Once we order your hair (custom-matched to your tones), your install appointment is scheduled approximately two weeks later. The whole process is bespoke from consultation through maintenance.
What should I expect on my first visit?
A thorough, unhurried service. We work with your hair's natural pattern and your daily routine to design something that looks intentional weeks from now — not just the day you leave. Plan to allow time for a real conversation about what you want, and trust that we won't rush the appointment.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within 48 hours of your appointment are subject to a $50 fee. Some stylists may have additional individual policies — your stylist will confirm specifics when you book.
Is there parking at the salon?
Yes — there's ample parking on-site at our 214 McFarland St location in Grand Blanc.
Do you take all ages?
Yes — all ages are welcome at Rooted.
Are your prices final, or do they vary?
Listed prices are starting points. Final pricing depends on your hair length, density, and the complexity of the service. Your stylist will confirm pricing during your consultation so there are no surprises at checkout.
What product brands do you carry and use?
We use and carry Redken, COLOR WOW, K18, Kenra, Amika, and Statement. These are professional-grade lines we trust for color longevity, repair, and styling — and we choose products to match your hair's specific needs, not blanket recommendations.
